Hastelloy B2 is a
nickel based alloy which provides excellent resistance to corrosion caused by
different kinds of acids like acetic acid, sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid.
Apart from it, the alloy is also resistant to cracking caused by stress
corrosion. It can also handle the heat zone attack and thick-knife attack with ease.
During welding when the alloy is heated, it resists the carbide precipitates
from the formation and hence avoids grain boundary precipitation. That is why
it is suitable for the different
applications that are frequently used in the chemical process industries.
Drawbacks
Hastelloy B2 tubes
and other equipment made from the alloy can be used in cupric and ferric salt
media. This is so because these salts cause corrosion failure that is very fast
in nature. The cupric and ferric salts develop when copper or iron from the
metal comes in contact with the hydrochloric acid.
B2 alloy equipment
should be exposed to a temperature of 1000 to 1600 degree Fahrenheit as at
these high temperatures there is a mark reduction in ductility of the alloy equipment.
Hastelloy
B2 tubes manufacturers
Hastelloy B2 tubes
are manufactured through mechanical and physical processes and involve a high
degree of testing. The companies offering them are ISO 9001:2000 certified and
design the tubes so that that they provide for their intended corrosions
resistance, welding and fabricability properties. The tubes and other equipment
of the alloy are shipped to various destinations across the world through the
extensive dealer distribution partners that are formed by a network of global
partners.
Applications
Hastelloy B2 tubes are
used in many industrial processes because of their unique properties. They are
hence used in industries including oil extraction, construction, paper, food,
medicine, pharmaceuticals, chemical processing and others. The tubes are able
to sustain high pressure and also provide for product warranty.

There might be few drawbacks of hastelloy b2 but this alloy surely outranks other alloys in terms of corrosion resistance.
